Hi there, we’re the Pumphreys (that’s with a “P”) We are so glad you are here. Sit back, relax, put your jammies on or take them off, whatever makes you comfortable. We are here to share our family adventures (some new and exciting things coming VERY soon) and travels, endless stories of our beautiful daughter, diys, money/budgeting hacks, the occasional recipe and all the life things. So just about everything and anything, we’re sharing our journey.
How did we meet?
My husband and I have a fun story. We met over 10 years ago! I instantly had a huge crush on him, it took him a while for the feelings to be mutual. I can still remember chasing him around thinking “he’s so cute!” Some things never change… haha
Our families kept in contact for a few years but nothing too close. He lived in small town Ohio (jokes on me because I am now living in said small town) and I lived in Missouri. Just before Grant left to serve a 2 year mission for our church (2013), we started talking again. We wrote a little to each other while he served but by this time I was at school and didn’t think too much would come from me writing him.
When Grant returned from his mission I was attending BYU-I and that so happens to be where he planned to go. We both attended in 2015/16 but were assigned to different semesters, so we never actually saw each other while at BYU-I. Grant was home working for the summer in 2016 and God definitely had plans for us because I ended up leaving school early to come home and be with my family. Still at this time, Grant and I were only causally texting each other, nothing too serious.
I was considering going on a mission for our church so one night I remember praying about it. I told God that I either needed a clear sign that I should be on a mission or I wanted to meet a guy, date him for a long time and really get to know him before we even thought about marriage. That night Grant messaged and we talked for hours! After we were finished talking I just smiled and thought “Man, God really does work in mysterious ways” I really wanted a guy that I had knew for a long time and right in front of me was that man!!
We officially started dating July 1st 2016
Engaged August 1st 2016
Married November 11th 2016
Yeah! So much for dating for a long time. That’s basically our story. Ask Grant about it sometime and it might be a little different. Since then we have:
- moved 4 different times
- had 5 different cars
- had 1 fish (his name was Fishy and he is no longer with us #momentofsilence)
- watched all 10 seasons of Friends. TWICE.
- gone on countless adventures but the best of them all is when 1 + 1 = 3
January 2nd 2018 was the BEST. DAY. EVER. No one will ever be able to fully describe the moment your child is born, but it was breath taking! (in every sense of the word) Read the birth story here.
Grant is currently finishing school and I am working from home while taking care of our sweet daughter. We live in small town Ohio and I am making the most of it. I am looking forward to sharing our adventures with you–we’ve got some big things planned!! Stick around to see what life is like with the Pumphreys! This is us. Welcome to our story!
